What was the point of the name for the sub?
I don’t wanna come off aggressive or but I really need to ask: why do you guys call yourself leftist? Genuinely asking because this is my first time on the sub and just scrolling through looking at the post it seems like most of you guys are libertarians not leftists.
At the best, you guys want subsidized AI for the public. But I wouldn’t say that you’re leftist on most policies when it comes to AI.
There was an article about the lake Tahoe situation where 50,000 people lost power because the city couldn’t renew the license because the data centers took advantage of a lapse in the contract between a UTILITY company and a data center.
You have people in that sub talking about “they voted for this!” “fake news” “I don’t trust the source” (despite their being multiple sources debunking all of these claims from larger and better journalists).
But regardless of that what’s more interesting to me as the implication, you guys aren’t white Christian nationalists. And I get that you’re not trying to line yourself with the current administration.
But I think a lot of you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what a leftist is and I think that you’re confusing AI friendly libertarianism to actual left leaning uses of large language models.
There is a super rich community of people within Reddit who use local LLMs and build some of the coolest shit I’ve seen and they also don’t have to be intellectually dishonest in conversations. Ultimately, I think it would do you guys better also to understand the actual tone of the sub because then you can actually get like-minded people to join you.
