Lenovo India delayed my ₹2 lakh CTO desktop for 75+ days after full payment. Do I have a valid consumer case?

Hello everyone,

I’m seeking advice regarding a potential consumer complaint through e-Jagriti against Lenovo India.

I ordered a custom-built (CTO) desktop from Lenovo’s official website on 31 March 2026 and paid the full amount upfront (₹2.03 lakh).

At the time of ordering, the estimated shipping timeline shown was around mid-May. About two weeks later, Lenovo emailed me stating that the shipment had been delayed and the estimated shipping date moved to 2 June.

After that, the shipping timeline became extremely inconsistent. Over the past several weeks, the estimated shipping date on the order portal has fluctuated repeatedly between June and July multiple times (June 2 → July 14 → June 8 → June 11 → June 17, etc.).

I contacted Lenovo support multiple times and mostly received generic responses. I eventually escalated the issue to Lenovo grievance team and later filed a complaint with the National Consumer Helpline (NCH).

Following the NCH escalation, I was contacted by Lenovo’s Customer Experience team. During the discussion, I was informed that there were component shortages affecting my build.

I informed Lenovo that:

  1. I do not want cancellation or refund.

  2. I want the original CTO order fulfilled.

  3. I requested fair compensation for the prolonged delay, repeated shipping date changes, and inconvenience caused after taking full upfront payment.

Lenovo later replied over email stating that:

- they cannot guarantee any specific shipping timeline,

- cannot confirm component allocation for my order,

- cannot provide expedited shipping,

- and can only offer a gaming mouse as a goodwill gesture.

At this point, I’m considering proceeding with an e-Jagriti consumer complaint for deficiency in service and compensation for the repeated delays and uncertainty.

I wanted advice from people experienced with consumer matters:

- Does this appear to be a reasonably valid consumer case?

- Is compensation realistically possible in such cases despite Lenovo mentioning longer CTO shipping timelines in their terms?

- Would filing through e-Jagriti/e-Daakhil be worth pursuing?

TL;DR:

Ordered a ₹2.03 lakh Lenovo CTO desktop on 31 March 2026 with full upfront payment. Shipping date has repeatedly fluctuated for weeks due to alleged component shortages. Lenovo refuses to guarantee timelines and only offered a small goodwill gesture. Considering filing consumer complaint through e-Jagriti and looking for legal advice.
