What is unreasonable for a trainee just starting on the appraisal experience hours?

I am applying to trainee roles, but I'm unsure about pay ranges for a trainee on yhe CG track. Is it reasonable to earn 70k/yr as a trainee working 40 hrs a week?

Certified General or Residential?

I just finished the trainee coursework. My end goal is to become CG. But I'm wondering if it's worth first becoming CR, since it requires 1,500 hrs of experience vs 3,000 hrs for CG.

It looks like the coursework to become CR is different than for CG. At least my ed provider labels the courses as "residential" and "commercial" separately.

If I am training to become CG, I can apply 1,500 hrs of residential toward the CG experience requirements. Is the normal career path to become certified Residential before certified general? Or just straight to general?

Is it realistic to only work weekends?

I just finished my trainee education and am looking for a supervisory appraiser in my region.

Context: I work full-time in the financial space. bachelor in finance.

I want to transition to appraising. I make 68k plus pretty good healthcare and retirement benefits. My family isn't ready to even sustain a short pay-cut going full-time into a trainee role. I'm trying to figure what is realistic. Is it possible to work on weekends and evenings appraising? Would any supervisory principal even consider it given the light workload? is it even possible to find a full-time trainee role paying 68k?
