Is it getting to anyone else? (Hatedom discussion)
I’m an art major with a writing minor. I’m a primarily Hazbin fic writer and I make fanart regularly. I have my criticisms of the show and, y’know, I sometimes cringe when I see something Viv has done or said.
But my god does the hate get under my skin. I did an okay job letting it go for a long time but I feel like its presence across the internet had quadrupled since I first got into the show.
There’s only so much of “that’s just their opinion” and “this person is misinformed” and “they’re just trolling, don’t take them seriously” I can tell myself before it starts to wear me down. These days I get associated with “defending rape and rape fetishes”, “zoophilia”, “pedophilia”, “nazi ideology”, when like, I never said I was a fan of HER. I just want to write and draw. And I think a lot of the important criticisms are drowned out by mindless hateful circle jerks where people reguritate the same crap (like somehow Viv saying parts of her toxic old relationship are in Valentino’s character got telephoned into “Viv personally identifies with a rapist and loves to woobify him”).
I’m so tired. It’s found its way onto my campus and I get shit for my merch. I guess I’m just wondering if anyone can commiserate.
