Sightreading

So I‘ve been playing piano for many years. I started in classical and got to a decent level and then switched to Jazz which I am now doing professionally. Now I got this gig on a cruiseship and its all about reading pop songs.

The thing is, I was never a good sightreader. I can read changes and kicks pretty well but when it comes to actual notes I‘m really not that fast.

So question: How would you recommend to approach it to get the best results in a relatively short amount of time? I already spend many hours a day practicing so I don’t mind to put in the time.
