Job Offer/Medical Benefits Advice- Project Manager Level 3

Hey everyone! Super excited to have gotten through the application process and just got the offer letter. For background I’m a separating service member, O-3/CPT in a HCOL area. Based off the job description’s pay band, the offer was about 0.98 to midpoint. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great offer and I’m grateful. However, I honestly was so blind to how much the military shovels into service members in a non-tangible way (no healthcare premiums, non-taxable income, etc.) and am trying to figure out ways to negotiate to cover the gap without asking for too much.

Any other veterans out there have any advice? Would also be really grateful if people wanted to chat about their experiences getting out of the military and figuring out how to navigate compensation/benefits. I know the job market is rough right now and I’m going to say yes in the end, but any tips on how to get the most out of the offer and LM non-salary benefits would be amazing.

Is there a benefits “hotline” to discuss the packages before signing because I’m wondering what the medical plans are for Aetna/Cigna. I got the basic gist of 80/20 coinsurance and HDHP stuff, but how good is the insurance in terms of what’s covered, how big is the network of providers, and how easy/hard is it to file claims. Also, are there HMO and/or PPO options? Getting referrals for everything is annoying and time consuming to say the least.

Thanks all!
