Feedback on Scotland Itinerary June/July 2026
Here is my day by day itinerary. (each line is a day.) I'm already having FOMO for all the things not on the list. I would love any general feedback on the itinerary or its feasibility. And would be grateful recommednations for activities, restaurants, hotels, or points of interest in the areas.
Also, in particular we are spending our anniversary in Oban, so I would love a recommendation for a great hotel and restaurant. We are open to splurge for this night.
We really want to take the beautiful and iconic train ride, will the Ft William to Oban portion satisfy this or should we figure out how to add Ft William to Malliag? Is it worth it to add an overnight in Mallaig or make it a day trip?
In general we like hiking, architecture, food, history, whisky exploring, and we are following some family history (Thurso area.) We will stay in a mix of guest houses and splurge on a nice hotel or two (TBD.) We don't really have any hotels lined up yet. We are super easy going with accommodations but like authentic and local over chain hotels.
We have built this itinerary around a 5 day Mac's Adventure walking tour in the Highlands. We are planning this for next month (late June- early July) and I know it's late, but there is still availability in the areas we are looking at. (This is the reason we are skipping Skye.) I think our trip is about 16-17 days. We are flying in from the east coast of the US. Nothing is set yet, so we can still make changes.
