Looking to help my brother
Good morning, all. My brother is a disabled and medically fragile person (69 yo), who will be getting the middle finger of his right hand (dominant) amputated next week. He was injured in the hospital, and he has a lot of pain and will need to rebuild dexterity and grip in his right hand over time. It isn't clear how much function he'll regain in his right hand. I'm asking you all for advice. What should we be thinking about to help him adjust? What do you wish that you knew when you had an amputation or you helped a loved one afterward? Are there helpful organizations with resources that would help us? I appreciate your experience and advice.
