AMO or MEBA?

Hello! I’m asking the age old question of which is better amo or meba ? I’m currently a cadet on an AMO vessel. I never considered amo because it’s not something really discussed within engineers at my school. Everybody goes to meba and it’s usually deck officers that go with amo.
My goal was to sail for long periods of time for around 5 years then go shore side because I want to settle down. Then go back sailing when kids are older or out of school. Maybe even short hitches in between (might be a optimistic plan but if anything changes I’ll cross that bridge when I get there)
When I talked to people on my ship they’re not the biggest fan of meba and reading online it seems like meba isn’t fans of amo (all in a political way)
I live an hour away from the hall back home and my school is 30 minutes from a hall.
I was considering biting the bullet and going with msc to work longer and upgrade to a 2AE in the first 2 years but the Great Lakes fleet has a better quality of life and the pay seems to be better than what meba gets (crews words not mine)
Just want to hear about your experiences and opinions
