received two different emails after rescheduling biometrics (is this normal)?

I received an email saying "we have taken an action on your case and it needs your attention". I received it at 9:57 PM, after which i was able to see my rescheduled biometric notice and was able to download the pdf file. At 10:21 PM, I received another email in the same email thread with same context "we have taken an action on your case and it needs your attention". But I did not see any new updates in my account. Should I consider this as a repeat email or something new? I did not see any developments in case status or case history or documents tabs.

OPT application (premium)

Hi Guys, I will be applying for my OPT with premium processing in the next few days. I just want to know if anyone has recently applied in the last 1 month for OPT with premium processing and what was the timeline you faced with biometrics notifications, scheduling of biometrics, final decision and card delivery? Please let me know. It would help a lot. Thank you.

For background of tesla (new employee) does ESS ask for reference contact (number or email) or do they contact someone directly on their own?

I ask because, I am a phd student and have completed my dissertation defense and yet to submit my final dissertation to the university (committee members are still reviewing the document).

If ESS contacts someone on their own for verification, I am afraid that they might say the candidate has not yet completed any defense or so (say if they contact graduate college directly, because all the forms are submitted to university only at the very end). For the position I was hired, the manager asked me if I completed the defense or not yet and said yes I did and yet to submit my dissertation to university. So, just wondering how ESS verifies these details during their background check.
