Teaching in Holyoke?
If any Holyoke teachers could give me insight as to what it’s like teaching in your district, I’d appreciate it. I’ve only taught in title 1 schools, which is why I’m looking in Holyoke.
I had an interview at a Springfield school and when I asked about teacher flexibility, I was told there’s none. I asked if this was a district initiative, and they said yes. The claim is it’s for equity, but equity doesn’t mean uniformity. If there was true equity in their school district, each child would be getting what *they* need, not some uniformed scripted lesson.
Is Holyoke the same way? I know they had a receivership that ended and they just negotiated a salary increase of 20%. Please tell me there’s autonomy there.
ETA: I was interviewing for elementary.
