Ballade pour Adeline, by Paul de Senneville (cover inspired by Richard Clayderman's 1977 recording)

This is my cover of Ballade pour Adeline, by Paul de Senneville. I used Richard Clayderman's 1977 recording as a guide to re-creating the pop orchestra backing.

I have such fond childhood memories of this piece. Virtually anyone learning piano in 90s New Zealand was aware of Ballade pour Adeline, and aspired to play it. And just like Für Elise (of course), it is a wee bit harder to play well than it would seem, as us aspiring young pianists would inevitably discover. Those were the days!

I am very much enjoying reliving some of the music that defined our moment, and sharing it with you. I hope you enjoy 😊

I produced the backing track in my bedroom studio, using Clayderman's recording as a guide. I think it worked out quite well, though it could do with more refinement (creating authentic sounding bass, drum, and guitar tracks is much more of a challenge than I anticipated!)
