Trying not to catastrophize... And failing
I have absolutely zero family history of breast cancer--other kinds of cancer, yes, and many other comorbidities, but for whatever reason, no breast cancer.
First mammogram after getting my heart monitor removed (said 'other comorbidities' have been a major issue for the last five years), and have to go back for another mammogram and ultrasound. "13mm asymmetric parenchymal density in the posterior left 2:30 position, 12cm behind the nipple..." What does this mean? Someone I spoke with on the imaging office's phone just emphasized 'density' but I'm just... Struggling.
Five years of appointments, heart catheters, beta blockers, two different cardiologists... I am aware that I have deep-seated anxiety regarding medical matters now. If you have any clarity about what I'm facing, what this means, I'd be so grateful for any shared wisdom at all. Thank you in advance.
Edited to add my age: 46. This is only the second mammogram I've ever had.
