I live in the Deep South of the USA. I (28M) matched with her (25F) on Hinge fell into some hard puppy love. She grew up in Japan and her parents are Japanese, but one of her grandparents is from Brazil. She has a tourist visa and is living with family and is trying to get a student visa. I’m asking because I’m not Japanese. All I know of the culture is from travel videos and Duolingo. The signs seem to point that she does but I’m not 100% sure because I’m not Japanese. I do know Japanese people get a bit generous with emojis so I’m not sure.

I told her that I liked her a lot, and she said I made her blush from saying it so directly. She’s also called me cute, tall and said that she likes my sandy hair and red beard.

I used some Japanese I learned. She responds to it with emojis like🌟😄 . I texted her “oyasumi” and she responded with 🌝 I then texted back “Tsuki ga kirei desu ne” which I understand is a poetic way of saying “I love you” and she replied with😍.

We tried video chatting but we could barely communicate with our knowledge of each other’s languages.

I know this makes me sound like an Asian fetishist or a weeb, but I promise I’m not. This woman is really nice to me and is fun to play games with.

I just got off my sub, I had some personality conflicts with a homophobe supervisor who had some decent pull and things snowballed into everyone thinking I was retarded and useless. People would rip work out of my hands and I rarely did anything outside of my normal watch.

There were a few incidents in which people groped me and one guy straight up put hands on me in my rack. When I tried to tell my chief and cob, they both wrote me off as having a victim mentality and reminded to focus more on my quals and vaguely threatened my career if I took things further. My LPO just rattled off times he got hazed, as if that made it any better.

I’m talking to NCIS about the sexual assault, but how fucked are my former leaders? I have text messages I sent to my chief describing other harassments that happened in my barracks, but again, nothing changed. Can they get court martial for coercion and allowing hazing to happen? I don’t think these people should be in charge of others. I genuinely fear for the safety of junior sailors under them now.
