The interview experience.
I went in prepared for rude/serious/professional attitude just to be ready for anything. But everyone from the front door to the officers were super nice and helpful. Very talkative and cracking jokes. Interview was scheduled for 10:30 and we were called back around 11:00. The Officer swore us in before sitting down and then took my husbands biometrics and picture. Then she had us sign a waiver for not coming with our lawyer. She started first with the I-130 and asked the following:
My husband answered these
How did you meet?
Where did you meet?
I then asked if I could respond as well and she giggled and said yes!
Tell me how your relationship evolved?
That's when I went into detail about how we first met until currently.
She asked about children I submitted an ultrasound picture and I sadly had a 26 week loss on 1/1. I was not going to mention my loss but since an ultra sound was submitted and baby's due date would have been 4/10. I did mention it to her. She gave me condolences and congratulated me on my new pregnancy.
I think because I answered all of her other questions with my lengthy details she was satisfied and moved on to the I-485 lol.
For the I-485 my husband had a reckless driving ticket from 6 years ago and she asked him questions about that. and most of the other yes/no questions.
She made 1 change to the application because our household size changed from 2024 to 2025 tax year.
She said that she would send the biometrics for the extra screening required and that if nothing comes back and we don't hear from her than that is good news and to expect a conditional green card in the mail 😄 since we have been married for less than 2 years and that it will have instructions for how to remove the conditions.
I went with a whole binder full of everything she could have asked for and she only asked for our most recent taxes since they were filled jointly and also took some Polaroid pics we have together. We had other things sent by our lawyer when we first applied, I'm sure she was just satisfied with what was already submitted.
Details about our status: My husband has been here since he was 3 years old. Came in 2000 and in 2001 applied for TPS El Salvador and has been legally present on TPS since then. In 2022 he applied for advance parole and went to El Salvador and entered paroled/TPS legally back into the United States. I am a birth citizen.
Now we wait!
