What shows actually respect the audience without dumbing things down and truly treat viewers as adults? The Wire, The Sopranos, Mad Men, Deadwood, The Americans, and True Detective Season 1 are my main examples of this level of depth and quality. Recommendations for any other shows that are on a similar level? I value writing and character work the most.

Shows I’ve enjoyed but found a step below these: The Leftovers, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Succession, Twin Peaks, The Shield, Gomorrah, Fargo, Andor, Dark, Barry, Mr Inbetween, Hannibal.

I found Mr. Robot to be a mixed bag.
