Should I cut or bulk as a skinny-fat man new to weightlifting?
Hi, everyone.
I am new to weightlifting. I am 5 feet 8. I have only been doing it for two months, having never picked up a weight in my life before. I was very weak to start with. My goal is to get bigger, stronger, fitter & leaner. I do feel fitter, healthier & stronger. However, I started at 146lb, and now I'm 139lb. Unfortunately, I still have 18% body fat. It's not going down. Also, I didn't want to lose weight.
I have been lifting weights for around one hour per day. Also, I have been riding an exercise bike for around an hour a day and getting in over 20 thousand steps per day, mainly from walking.
I recently started tracking my calorie intake. It turns out that I tend to be at a deficit on most days. I have been consuming tons of protein & carbs. Also, around 50 to 60 grams of fat a day, which I guess is too much.
Does anyone have any advice for me? Am I doing too much cardio? Should I consume more calories? Should I consume less fat, fewer carbs, fewer calories?
Again, my ultimate goal is to lose fat and get bigger.
