How did you survive your first postop period

3 weeks post open myomectomy and this is day 3 of my monstrosity of a period. It is SO bad, especially on my right side. I know it’s related to my incisions and uterus healing but damn you guys 😭

Educators - when did you go back to work?

I’m currently 2 weeks post op from an open myomectomy and fortunately have a leave from work for 4 weeks. I have my postop appointment next week, and while I feel way better in the pain department, I’m not back to my normal mobility or energy level.

I feel like 4 weeks is and isn’t enough time, given I’m feeling better each week but I also have a very active job as an educator (ton of stairs in my building, the mental fatigue, sitting and squatting, walking a ton, etc).

Anyone else work in education, or other active jobs What was your recovery period like?

Pregnancy after myomectomy - high risk?

For those who got pregnant after an open myomectomy, I’m familiar with planned c section, but were you considered high risk? What extra things did you have to do throughout your pregnancy?

This group has been so helpful in learning more about fibroids and surgical options. I’m having my open myomectomy tomorrow and I’m nervous but so excited.

I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but I knew that my husband and I wanted kids, but having this barrier in the way has made me even more excited and increased my desire to be a mom 🥹

Here’s to taking care of ourselves, being believed by doctors, and raising awareness about these menaces one post at a time!
