SILK/LASIK Eye Surgery Expectations — Is Residual Power Normal?

My case: -6.0D myopia with -0.5 cyl, 570 μm corneal thickness, late 20s, healthy eyes and eligible for most procedures.

I’m a software engineer (heavy screen usage) and moderately active in sports, so I was leaning toward a flapless procedure like SILK.

After consulting 2 experienced surgeons, I’m confused about expectations:

  • Is ending up with ~0.5D spherical residual power normal with SILK [surgeon A]?
  • Is leaving 0.5 cyl behind considered acceptable in practice [surgeon B]?
  • Is flap dislocation risk with Contoura/LASIK actually significant enough to choose a less mature procedure like SILK instead?

Would love to hear experiences from people who had similar prescriptions.
