I feel like I’m doing everything I can and it’s ridiculous.
Hi. I (20f) have a TON of trouble losing weight and it’s really worsening mental. I’ve been consistently fluctuating for the last 4-5 years between 170 and 190lbs, and I’m 5’8.
I work as a waitress and do daily runs that are about a mile total, simply because work runs me down. I’m constantly on my feet every day for at least 7 hours, and always doing something for work. I also walk to work, which is about 20 minutes each way.
My diet usually consists of a decent meal. Work gives me a discount, so I like going for a salad or a wrap that’s loaded with veggies and a protein of choice (we get to choose between fish, chicken, or beef). Protein shakes for the morning since I usually wake up around 9-10am and head to work by 11am-12pm. Lunch from work between 4-5pm. I might have a snack or save half of the meal for later.
Issue now is that I’ve always been told I have a slow metabolism and it’s normal and I’ll grow out of it. It frustrates me that I’m doing what I can with how limited I am as it is. I have no car, no gym in walking distance, no budget for something besides some exercise bands and trying to hold heavy books and items during short workout sessions at home.
Is there something I should be doing differently? It’s been three months since I started working as a server and though my muscle has obviously increased, it’s undefined. I’d really like advice on how to tone down.
Edit: Thank you for the comments. It’s very good to hear more advice. Without a car I’m limited as to where I can go for food, as I live alone and my budget is strict. I’ll be looking into more of these options.
As to answer more: salads are ~600 kcal as we don’t have a saucy base (it’s literally a cup and a half of lettuce, and sprinkled on onion, tomato, light cheese, and a few chicken strips chopped up). Wraps are obviously more than this, and I’d guess around 1000 kcal alone based on ingredients which are the same as the salads. Yes, they are estimates, I’m sorry. I do get dressing so I’ll look into healthier options. The protein shakes are either Fairlife Core (230 kcal) or another one around that number, which I’ve unfortunately forgotten since I have none in my fridge at the moment 🥲
Thank you for the advice. I’m both financially and geographically limited, but they are building a grocery store in the plaza I work at, so here’s to hoping!
Edit 2: Because I forgot to explain: I try to stay under 1800 kcal whenever possible. I have an issue of eating even if I don’t feel hungry, which I’ve been doing much better about recently, so progress also might just start being made.
