‘College GameDay’ analysts called out over lack of college football knowledge beyond Big Ten-SEC

https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/college-gameday-analysts-lack-knowledge-sacramento-fresno-boise-mcafee-herbstreit.html

This article absolutely nails it. College GameDay has gone from a show that celebrated the entire sport to an insufferable SEC/Big Ten circle jerk featuring overpaid personalities who apparently think their own ignorance is hilarious. And Herbstreit might be the most pathetic of the bunch. A guy who once had some credibility has over the past few years turned himself into a smug, insufferable caricature, desperately trying to keep up with McAfee’s frat-boy circus. If he had an ounce of self-awareness, he’d be mortified by what he’s become. Instead, he seems perfectly content collecting his millions while helping turn a once-great show into an embarrassing parody of itself.

“By the way, I have to thank…”

Every day from at least one Junkie. Often multiple times a day from multiple Junkies. The endless shilling for hookups has never been this embarrassingly blatant.

We get it, your dwindling audience is still allowing you perks which is why you’ll be doing this until you’re 80.

Kirk Herbstreit pleads ignorance on ‘GameDay’ Ted Cruz interview: ‘We’re not picking sides in any way at all’

https://awfulannouncing.com/college-football/kirk-herbstreit-claims-ignorance-ted-cruz-interview-gameday.html

Politics is a luxury you can ignore when its consequences don’t feel immediate to you.

That’s what I think whenever someone like Kirk Herbstreit says, “I don’t really pay attention to politics,” as though disengagement is somehow the more reasonable or enlightened position.

Year 4 of the Fickell Era: Still Waiting for the Part Where Wisconsin Gets Better

I have no idea what happened in that locker room at halftime, but whatever Fickell said, I hope he never says it again.

We went into halftime down 13–10 and actually looked competitive, then we came out completely flat-footed and got outscored 28–3. Yes, Notre Dame is good. But at some point Wisconsin is also supposed to be competitive over the entirety of the game.

This is all to say that I need the Luke Fickell era to end yesterday. Someone please find the nearest tarmac to leave him on. What an utter disaster of a hire. We’ve gone 7–6, 5–7, 4–8, and now we’re four years in still being asked to imagine progress that never shows up on Saturdays.

And Joseph? This was the big get? Maybe the kid improves but he looked painfully ordinary and at times downright bad last night. Somehow Wisconsin keeps solving its quarterback problem by finding another quarterback who looks exactly like the guys who didn’t solve the quarterback problem. The legendary running game is basically a missing-person case at this point, and I’m not even sure what Wisconsin football’s identity is anymore. Jonathan Taylor feels like 20 years ago.

Anyway, Go Pack Go, I guess. On Wisconsin.

Hear me out: The Commanders are going to be one of the best teams in the NFL this year, and we’re beating Philly Week 1

There is way too much Commanders hate right now.
Everyone is looking at 5-12 last year and acting like that tells the whole story. Jayden barely played, the season completely went off the rails, and now people are talking about Washington like 2024 never happened.

I think this team is about to bounce back in a huge way. Our franchise QB is healthy, the offense has more weapons, and I think Washington is much closer to the team that went 12-5 than the one we saw last year. And I’m calling this right now: the Commanders are going into Philly Week 1 and beating the Eagles.

Philly is the NFC East favorite. They’re at home. Everybody is expecting Washington to lose.
I think Washington wins. And once that happens, people are going to start realizing they spent the entire offseason sleeping on this team, including many so called fan’s on here lol.

11-12 wins.
NFC East contender.
Deep playoff run.
One of the best teams in the NFC and a legit Super Bowl contender.

Too many people have already written them off because of one awful, injury-filled season. I’m buying the bounce-back.

Commanders 27, Eagles 10

The Sports Junkies just kind of suck now

I’ve listened to the Junkies for years, but the show just feels mailed in now. Too much gambling, golf, recycled personal stories, and killing time on boring bullshit. The non-sports stuff used to be funny and unpredictable, now it mostly feels repetitive and lazy.

The constant privilege is getting old too. Every other story seems to involve someone hooking them up with free tickets, suites, concerts, restaurants, golf, whatever…followed by endless shout-outs. After a while it starts sounding less entertaining and more out of touch. Mike Maher also sounds he’s permanently auditioning to be the douchiest guy at the bar.

And EB has become especially hard to listen to. He used to be one of the best parts of the show, but now he mostly comes across as just a very stupid person. His political takes increasingly sound like paranoid Trump-world grievance stuff, which is not why I’m listening to 106.7. I still have nostalgia for the show, but more and more I turn it on for 10 minutes and switch to something else.

Junkies Topics Every Day

-Talking about all their never-ending comped shit, followed by never-ending shoutouts for said never-ending comped shit.

-Golfers and golf tournaments no one has heard of or cares about. Did you know EB’s kids golf?

-The shitty Commanders (psst, they aren’t going to be very good again this year guys.)

-How they won’t go see The Odyssey because Fox News told them it was “woke.” (Although I honestly think Cakes is kind of woke IRL but has to play the character.)

-How they’re burning through money because their adult children are spoiled rotten and apparently don’t know how to do a load of laundry.

-Talking to tryhard Mike Maher who answers the question “what if one of the douchiest neighborhoods in Northern VA was a person?”

-EB mentioning Morgan Wallen (who is on video using the N word) or country music on a daily basis. We get it, dude. You like shitty music. By the way y’all are right about him probably teaming up with Dukes after the show ends to do a terrible podcast. EB has become a parody.

The only good thing about this show now is Drab. Drabby forever.
