Is it possible to write a program for a CNC machine in CODESYS? I am new to PLC programming. I have a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering and have worked for a small automation company, mainly as an electrician, but I also did some light work in CODESYS.
I have a freelance opportunity to write a program for an old CNC machine that needs restoration. The contractor wants to use Chinese PLCs (GCAN) and program them through CODESYS. He also asked me to research whether we can use a Raspberry Pi to create some kind of HMI that would be connected to the PLC.
I’m not sure where exactly to start or what to learn first.
Do you have any advice? If someone has done something similar, I would really appreciate hearing how you managed to complete the project and what are some things I should be aware of.
