I have a hypothetical question I need help answering. I just finally got a state ID, but it is NOT Real ID compliant, and I don’t have a passport. I’m worried that if I apply for my Real ID now, it won’t come in time for me to fly Memorial Day weekend. I know that TSA Confirm ID is a thing that exists. My question is is it a better idea to hold off on applying for a Real ID so I have a non hole-punched ID to bring with me when using TSA ConfirmID, or is a temporary license and hole punched ID enough identification to use alongside TSA ConfirmID to get through airport security?
edit: i have a hole punched Real ID card from another state in my name as well. The Real ID process was confusing and I was misled on it by the DOL agent I was working with to replace my old state ID with an ID from my new state.
