How I always do kerdi line drains. Prevents delamination!

This was a schluter water test pool. 5 days in heavy wicking! Read description

In Germany this is how they test membranes at the test institute. In Europe they aren’t allowed to use mortar for waterproofing. Ask them why? Answer-“because it isn’t waterproof” I’ve seen water wick outside a curbless after a 2 day flood test. We gotta get past this notion that thinset is waterproof. IT’S NOT A WATERPROOF ADHESIVE! Never has been. Never will be. I’ve ran several tests on this. All the schluter supporters will say “ it’s not meant to submerged” The biggest side step in the tile industry. Saturation you guys! A heavily used shower become saturated over a little time.

My preferred method of building showers. Layers of anti fracture fabric with a high quality liquid membrane. Always mud curb no wood in curbs!

Coverage! Back butter doesn’t count towards coverage! You gotta set the tile!

I see a lot of jobs fail due to lack of coverage! You gotta set the tile. It requires pressure and back and forth movement!

Setting a schluter drain the day before you tile.

I don’t like all the mud squeezing out everywhere. So I set the drain the day before I tile

Here’s how to make a schluter system actually waterproof! I don’t rely on a company for warranty. I am the warranty

How I usually get piece of mind when installing a schluter system! I coat it with a high quality topical. You can say “that voids the warranty”I stand behind my work! I am the warranty for my work

Series of videos I did on installing banding and corners with kerdi fix sealant. Approved method in Europe!

I ran a whole series of videos on sealant vs all set. To install the banding and corners. In every test the sealant crushed the thinset. Zero wicking from sealant. Mortar wicks water!

I don’t care for schluter. But have installed tons of it!

Here’s a quick breakdown on running the banding and corners. Personally I don’t care for schluter systems. I think they have great marketing. But the products are soft and there’s too many pieces.
