I think my favorite thing about these events is that they make me want to go back to games I haven't played in a while. When I saw what the theme was, I thought of a couple of games right away. For Days Gone, I went back through my old files trying to find something that fit the theme, but I wasn't satisfied with none of what I had.

So I thought why the hell not and, since I had already been meaning to play it again for a while, I downloaded it and got to work.

It took me a minute to find something I was happy with for this one, but I finally got it!

I think that, with these shots from my kind of "photo mode run" (like the ones in the previous album) that I did after finishing the game, I'm finally ready to say goodbye to Returnal for the foreseeable future. It was a really stressful ride!

These were all taken on a base PS5, but like before there was quite a bit more editing than I generally do. Besides cropping, I also wanted them to have some "texture" and be very messy.

A couple weeks ago, in anticipation of Saros coming out, I downloaded Returnal for the second time ever since trying it when it released back in 2021 and honest-to-goodness actually played it until the end. I have some problems with rogue-like games, so this was a pretty big deal for me! On the other hand, I was generally too stressed to get anything worthwhile out of its photo mode lol

And then Saros came out last week (playing through it right now, loving it) and, much to my dismay, it doesn't have a photo mode yet! So while I hope and pray that Housemarque adds one in a future update, I cleared some space in my SSD and downloaded Returnal again, this time with the peace of mind that dying while chasing interesting sights was no longer a big deal that meant 3 hours of lost progress, and these shots are the result!

You know, I've always had a very complicated relationship with this franchise, but I absolutely cannot deny how beautifully the teams at Ubisoft have rendered these worlds, to the point that I'm always curious about what the next game's setting is going to look like, and ever since they added a photo mode to the series it's been a blast! Regardless of the problems I have with the games themselves -- and they're not perfect -- the ability to roam around and take photos always makes it worth it. Islamic Golden Age Baghdad is a feast to the eyes!
