Ulcerative Colitis
I was diagnosed with probable Adenomyosis about 10 years ago and had to delay hysterectomy for a variety of reasons (including moving and needing to find a new Obgyn who cares about Endo & Adeno and was willing to take it out. Having it out this weekend *finally*
Part of the hoops I had to jump through was having a Colonoscopy to rule out my symptoms being GI as well as pelvic MRI to check for DIE. Turns out I have Ulcerative Colitis on top of bowel Endometriosis and suspected Adenomyosis
They're actually having trouble staging the UC and think it might actually be Crohn's with small bowel involvement beyond where the upper endoscopy could reach. My GI ordered an MRI, but wanted me to wait until I recover a bit and my insides get readjusted
Today, I got a call from the hospital saying my GI wanted to transfer my care to an IBD Specialist (not to be confused with IBS). The new doctor wanted to know why I hadn't gotten the MRI yet. I explained the whole thing and they still want me to come in for a new patient exam next week. I told them I would be happy to do a virtual appointment, but didn't want to do a physical exam until at least my post-op appointment with my surgeon
Am I overreacting?? When do your organs settle?? I don't see the point in getting a bunch of imaging done before then, not to mention that I cleared my schedule specifically to stay home and rest. I also don't know what this exam is, but I don't like the idea of being poked and prodded in that area so soon??
Has anyone else had a hysterectomy after being diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease?? Did it affect your recovery or make your symptoms worse??
