We smelled burning plastic tonight, and found that the hot black 240V prong on our oven power plug was melted and the wall outlet was blackened. how can I troubleshoot to determine whether the fault is with the appliance or wall outlet?

note that the breaker didn’t trip and the oven seems to be functioning normally.
