Im going through chemistry using Khan Academy while bored at work and just reached covalent bonds. The difference between them as i understand is that a covalent bond has the elements share the electrons between each other while ionic bonds have one element or elements steal an electron from other elements. Both do this to satisfy the octet rule. But after one element steals the electrons from another element, why do they stick together in an ionic bond if both have satisfied the octet rule?
