Would love to hear from anyone raising kid(s) in the Boston area. Housing market is abysmal but we are looking to buy after renting in Camberville for the last five years. Obviously we’d love to be in Brookline, Newton or Cambridge, but we’re getting priced out of even tiny condos.

We’re secular but observant and culturally Jewish, we want our kid in school with plenty of other Jewish kids (and additional diversity would be excellent).

Unfortunately, the Boston public school system seems to be a terrible choice in general and we can’t afford private school. She won’t start kindergarten for a few years but we’d like to buy and settle in a good school district. We both work downtown. Please share your experience!

Towns that used to have plenty of Jewish kids when I was growing up now no longer recognize Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur as holidays/days off from school, which seems like an indicator for where things are headed.
