Queries Regarding F-1 Visa Renewal or International Travel
Hey y’all!
I am currently an Indian Citizen who is a Ph.D. Student in the US. I arrived in 2021 to do my Master’s in Chemical engineering, switched majors within a semester and started my Master’s in Systems Engineering in January 2022. I have since completed my Master’s in May 2024 (co-op for 6 months in 2023) and eventually started my Ph.D. in Fall 2024 in Industrial Engineering.
My F-1 visa is set to expiry in July 2026 (July 13th). What are the risks associated with an F-1 renewal now?
Secondly, if I were to squeeze in a travel to India before the visa expiry, am I facing any risks given that I’m very close to the date of visa expiry? If this was an option, I was considering travel for a fortnight or so in June.
Lastly, if I get an appointment for visa renewal after the expiration of my current visa, what are your recommendations and/or risks associated?
