The title pretty much sums it up, but we are looking to put an addition on our 1,100sq foot 3br 2 bath Cape Cod right on the edge of Richmond (mere feet from Henrico, where the grass is greener and the taxes are lower...haha.) I've owned the house for 17 years, and so the interest rate is pretty much keeping us here rather than looking for a new place (and I love my little house).
Probably looking to add 500+ feet. Prioritizing expanding the impossibly small kitchen and adding storage (we have NONE.) Possibly adding a 4th bedroom. Upgrading the upstairs and adding sq footage upstairs as well (currently it is just a bedroom and bathroom that used to be the attic space).
As it is an old house, and I'm sure problems will arise along the way, we want a company that has experience with older homes and won't just obliterate the charm while upgrading the bones.
Has anyone dealt with a similar project?
Do you have companies you liked (if not one of the three we are looking to have come out and look at the house)?
Did you use one of the 3 we are considering? Pros/cons?
