We had a fire and my clothes were in the washing machine in the next room.

The washing machine is fine and so are my clothes but you can imagine their state 🥲

I’ve read a couple of articles advising soaking them in cold water or water and detergent or baking soda, so I wanted to know if they’re worth salvaging or a lost cause? And if I can save them, what can I do?

The clothes are mostly underwear and t-shirts/tank tops, if that helps.
