Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anybody has had similar experiences to me, and how they resolved the issue or any advice in general.

Basically have a new build, with off curtilage(off site) parking space. It is around the corner, very close and is prewired for an EV charger. Few of the neighbours have ev chargers. My EV installer said I needed written permission from the property manager. Rang them today snotty agent said no. I said neighbours have one. He said we’re probably going to have them removed. I said when we bought the property sales agent said we have EV charger installation capability. It says in the sales brochure “off curtilage parking space wired for EV”.

I said I’d get back to them and forward them on the brochure. Had a look at my contract and basically the builder/developers very vaguely say “we have nothing to do with the EV chargers or installation” in basic terms, but very purposely vague language.

My question is how’s best to approach this?

I’ve read about going to AGM of the management company etc, but has anyone successfully gotten EV charger permission without doing this?

Or should I just get it installed and say fuck them. Like realistically what are the chances of them removing it?

Just very frustrated by the whole situation promised one thing by the builders/sales agent then told no by the property management company.

Thanks a mill

*Update*

I’m starting the back and forth with the management company. I’ve also gotten legal advice have a good case as falsely promised “prewired space for EV chargers” means they can’t just go back on their word afterwards. Once I progress I’ll update and give what worked/ didn’t work in case anyone has similar issues in the future. Just want to reiterate this is my own space literally just around 10m corner of my house. Not a public space for everyone to use. I know there’s been cases of people installing in public places without permission, not their own dedicated spaces.
