Things to do during the day on weekdays?

Hello Adelaide 👋

I just moved to this city today for work, but I don't start until June and want to know what to check out next week.

I'm currently renting a room from a family at an Airbnb while searching for a more permanent place. I've got lots of inspections scheduled, but they're all after 4:30 so I need things to do before that. I'm already planning to check out some museums, but I don't want to do that every day.

Edit: I'm interested in things like art, history, nature, animals, and I will basically give anything a chance provided I don't have to deal with too many people.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Trying to find a rental place in Adelaide while living in Sydney (it's a nightmare)

I accepted a job offer in Adelaide to start on June 1st and somehow thought finding a rental would be easier than finding work.

I'm going through domain.com.au and whether I send emails or make calls about online tours I just get automated responses about signing up for an inspection. I've even sent out a few applications but they still haven't responded after several business days.

I know the fact that I just moved to the country probably sets off some red flags, but they're not even picking up the phone or returning my calls so I can clarify any doubts.

I can safely afford up to $600/w, but no one seems to want my money and it's driving me nuts! I even started looking at Flatmatefinder, but most of those listings are either looking to rent exclusively to women, seem really sketchy, or are just too small of a space even for my few things.

I'm partially just venting, but if anyone has any helpful advice or can hook a brother up, I'm all ears.

(don't even get me started on the reference bullshit and trying to get in touch with old American landlords and how Australian emails aren't reaching my old coworkers' emails)

Hello fellow Ameristralians, I was wondering what experiences other recent transplants had in Medicare enrollment.

I sent the Enrol email as per their website a little over a week ago and haven't heard anything since. I didn't have the right documents available to enroll through MyGov because I'm staying with family and haven't found a job yet... I saw some comments saying it might take 3 weeks or it might take 12 depending on the backlog. If anyone has more insight on that please feel free to share.

If you try to sign up for Centrelink through MyGov you need a Medicare card. I didn't see any other options, but it would be really helpful to have that while I'm still job searching. Has anyone been able to claim the JobSeeker Payments without a medicare card?

I'm pretty sure that's all I'm waiting on as far as government stuff. All I've been doing is job searching and going for walks since I've been here because I'm extremely reluctant to spend money without any source of income.

Thanks
