Where are all the backlinking tools?

When I think back to when I started out in SEO there were a ton of different tools that could spread backlinks far and wide, there was certainly no shortage of tools to choose from whatever sort of backlinks you wanted.

To give an idea, here are some tools that I can remember off the top of my head that worked to generate many backlinks (of varying quality):
SENuke - dead
Blog Comment Demon - dead
The Free Blog Commenter - dead
Bookmarking Demon - dead
No Hands SEO - dead
GSA SER
Scrapebox - dubious backlinking utility
Money Robot Submitter - dead
Ranker X - not sure about this
Backlink Beast - dead
Article Demon - dead
Xrumer - seems mostly working

The above are just the ones I remember from about 10-15 years ago. Lots are no longer around and those that are don't seem nearly as popular anymore.

The only survivors seem to be the ones that post to randomly hosted platforms, very few target the high authority sites that allow posting to, and good look finding a decent article submitter or directory submitter.

There are so many sites that accept user generated content, it seems crazy that there isn't something modern like this. It is even crazier still now AI has gotten so good at mimicking real people.

So why do you guys think there are so few tools out there that are aimed squarely at creating backlinks?

P.S - bonus points if you can guess which one of the tools above I made :)

MichaelOwen com for just $1?!?! World Cup Domain

Found michaelowen.com listed for $1 while browsing domains, and because it’s World Cup season I couldn’t resist making a quick short about it.

Naturally, I pretend to be a huge football expert… before revealing that most of my “expert knowledge” is coming from Wikipedia.

Interesting domain, but definitely one I’d be careful with because famous-name domains can come with obvious risks.

Found it using Easy Expired Domains:

The Free Moz DA Checker was Wrong!

When looking through a list of expiring domains on Easy Expired Domains last week I stumbled across a domain that had a DA of 31. When doing my due diligence on the domain I saw that the free Moz DA Checker on Moz's own website, showed it as having no data (i.e. DA 0).

Concerned about this I triple checked with DomDetailer and saw it claimed DA 31. Moz API was also showing a DA of 31 and Moz Pro is also showing DA 31.

For those of you relying on free moz DA checks on their own website or via free / very cheap third party stats tools, I don't really know what to suggest. A lot of the free checkers that people use scrape their stats from this free resource, maybe they should not be trusted in the same was as a paid Moz account (Pro or API) or to use a tool that uses Moz API to provide their results, like DomDetailer.

Check out the video to see me go through this. The domain is kingandempire .com, if you want to check for yourself.

Domains Expiring in the next 24 Hours

I’ve just posted the first episode of a new video series where I look through the domains expiring today and see what stands out.

In this one, I use Easy Expired Domains to filter domains expiring in the next 24 hours, sort them by quality, traffic, backlinks, Trust Flow, Domain Authority and category, and then dig into a few examples to see whether they look worth chasing or whether there are obvious red flags.

The idea is to make this a regular series where I go through fresh expiring domains, explain what I’m looking at, and show the process of narrowing a huge daily drop list into domains that might actually be worth investigating.

You can check out Easy Expired Domains here:
https://easyexpireddomains.com

Would be interested to hear what you think of this format and what types of domains you’d like me to focus on in future episodes.

You find an expiring domain you recognise.... What do you do?

If you were to stumble upon a domain that belonged to someone in your town, what would you do?

Would you try and drop catch it or would you warn them about it and give them chance to retain it?

Expiring Domain Goldmine? TF40 DA31 for Under £10

I’ve just uploaded Episode 4 of 10 Minute £10 Banger.

The idea is simple: I give myself 10 minutes to search through expired, expiring, auction and dropped domains, trying to find the best domain I can for around £10 or less.

This episode ended up being a good one.

I found an expiring domain with:

  • Majestic Trust Flow: 40
  • Moz Domain Authority: 31
  • 371 referring domains
  • Strong age/history signals
  • A profile that looks like it could attract a lot more attention than a £10 starting price

As always, the point of the video is not just to chase big numbers. I also go through why you still need to check the domain properly, including backlink quality, Wayback history, topical relevance, anchor text, and whether there are any obvious red flags.

The video also shows a few domains that look interesting at first glance but become less appealing once you actually dig into the details, which is exactly why I built Easy Expired Domains in the first place.

And if you want to try finding domains like this yourself, you can check out Easy Expired Domains here:

https://easyexpireddomains.com

Would be interested to hear what you think of this one. Would you bid on a TF40 / DA31 expiring domain if it started around £10, or would you want to see more before touching it?

What Actually Makes a Domain “Premium”?

I’ve just uploaded a new video on the different types of premium domains and why they are not all valuable for the same reason.

Video:
https://youtu.be/biQjsV3Nb5I

A domain might be valuable because of its backlinks, age, clean history, keywords, brandability, local intent, or a mix of all of these. The problem is that a lot of people judge every domain the same way, which can lead to missed opportunities or bad buys.

In the video, I break down the main types of premium domains and explain what makes each one useful depending on the goal — SEO, flipping, lead generation, brand building, or rebuilding an aged domain.

For finding expired, expiring and auction domains, I’ve also been working on Easy Expired Domains:
https://easyexpireddomains.com/

And for deeper domain research, crawling and expired domain discovery, there’s Domain Hunter Gatherer:
https://domainhuntergatherer.com/

Curious what people here usually look for first when judging a domain: backlinks, keywords, age, or brandability?

High Traffic High Stats Breakdown - Easy Expired Domains

Hey everyone, just uploaded a new video breaking down a live domain hunt.

In this one, I run into a massive anomaly - a domain claiming 39k monthly traffic - alongside a pristine, 18-year-old personal blog gem. I dive straight into the metrics, Wayback Machine history, and backlink profiles to see if they are worth bidding on or if they're auction traps.

Did I just Find a 39k Traffic Domain?

Hey everyone, Episode 3 of the 10 Minute £10 Banger series is live!

The premise is simple: I give myself exactly 10 minutes to dig through live domain auctions to see if it's possible to find high-value SEO assets for £10 or less.

In this episode, the timer leads me to two incredibly unique domains:

  • The Traffic Anomaly: A domain showing a massive 39,000 monthly visits. We look into the metrics to see if it's a genuine goldmine or a risky auction trap.
  • The Vintage Gem: A pristine personal blog originally registered 18 years ago (back in 2008) with a perfectly clean history and solid backlink profile.

Check out the video walkthrough to see how I filtered the lists and analyzed these two anomalies under the clock
