Civilian Firefighter -> AFR PJ

I’m looking into going to the Air Force reserves and I’ve always wanted to be a PJ. I’ve been consistently physically training not only for my job as a firefighter/EMT but also to get in shape for the possibility of going to the reserves.

What’s the possibility of getting that job. I know it’s very physically demanding and mentally tough but I’d love to have a shot at it.

I’m also in Texas so not sure where the closest unit is to me.

Would I be better off going active duty for it? I would have to leave my 70k a year career. Would USERRA hold my job that whole time for that contract?

Firefighter/EMT -> 68W

Copied from other account since I didn’t have enough karma to post here.

Looking into joining the reserves to get good experience and military service is something I’ve always felt compelled to do. Now I have a family and a good career and don’t want to completely give that up.
I HAVE had a surgery on my left femur leaving me with screws and a rod in my femur and plates in my jaw as well.
Nothing that hold me back physically because I deadlift 415 and in fire academy have run 10.6 miles and rucked 6 miles.
Will I have to get a waiver for that or not.
Also considering Air Force reserves but want a more combat focused experience and hopefully would get the F2 identifier to go flight medic.
I currently have NREMT-B so I would supposedly skip 8 weeks AIT from what I’ve been told.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
