ABAP CAP/RAP is commonly used now?

Hi,

I am SAP technical consultant, I am familiar with ABAP and my place is now doing migration from HANA (2016 version) to SAP RISE private cloud.

The project is handled by a well known consulting company and we use the brown field approach. But I realize most of the custom programs are just 'shift and lift' and modify to make it 'clean core ready'. So, I don't see CAP/RAP is being used in this migration.

So, wanted to check if RAP/CAP is really being used out there?

Thank you

Anyone using Datasphere?

Hi,

Is there anyone using Datasphere? If yes, what do you use it for?

From what I see, it is advertised for Business Intelligent purpose. Anyone is using it for a different purpose?

The point is, what is the strong point of a datasphere? And when should I choose to use it?

Thanks!

SAP Event Mesh for EDA

Hi,

SAP offers 2 different products for EDA, EM and AEM. With EM is more simple and AEM is more comprehensive.

EM is said to be more lightweight and to be use for simple scenarios, but how simple is simple? Has anyone's company been using EM as the backbone for their EDA? Is it reliable (message delivery guarantee, etc)? Is there any pain point for using EM (lack of monitoring capability, etc)?

Thank you.

Mulesoft integration with Datadog

Hi,

Has anyone been using Datadog for monitoring and logging? From what I know we can do:

  1. Install Datadog agent in cloudhub to start collecting metric and monitor Mulesoft runtime performance

  2. Send log to Datadog from Mulesoft application.

What I want to achieve is that, I want to be able to trace and troubleshoot data sent/receive in Mulesoft, with the API led being the center of the design.

  1. What is the common approach when comes to logging for traceability? Can the Anypoint Monitoring console achieve this? Or Datadog will be a better tool (with the correlation ID, will we be able to see all the flow in the same monitoring screen)?

  2. Is it common to log the full payload of the incoming and outgoing data (it this an overkill)? Or it is more common to just log certain key/important fields during the important steps in the flow?

Thank you.

Master Data Initial Load with Mulesoft

Hi,

We have master data replication from our ERP to satellite systems using Event Driven architecture. Now, from time to time, whenever a new business or new satellite system comes to the picture. We need to do a full load master data replication to the satellite system.

I wonder if we can use Mulesoft by leveraging the current flow of EDA to send delta master data.

  1. Is it a good approach to use the current EDA integration (with only 0.1 vcore) to replicate initial master data?

  2. Will it be better to separate this process from the existing one (used to send delta master data)? But this will cost additional vcores which is not cheap and this full load is rarely used.

  3. Will it be better to handle this full load initial master data out of Mulesoft?

Thank you.

IDoc vs EDA

Hi,

With the current trend that SAP is pushing the clients to cloud based SAP (SAP RISE) and clean core concept. SAP is recommending to use API based & Event Driven Architecture for integration with satellite systems.

However, I wonder if someone here has the experience of migrating from mainly IDoc based integration to Event Driven & API. What are the advantages?

  1. IDoc outbound vs Event Driven Architecture

  2. IDoc inbound vs API

Thank you.
