Trying to find these movie makers
They're a group of people who run around and ask strangers to make short movies. One of the movies was made by this guy, about an alien named toots and a cop whose in love with her and it was called something like intergalactic situationship. Another was made by another popular guy no idea what it was called but the whole premise was two couples one so codependent their movements are linked and the other horrified by it.
I think even worse than "I started a dystopian/Sci fi/fantasy novel thinking it was a romance" is when you start *writing* a romance and it turns into a fucking existential crisis.

I have a scene with a character from the past and she's baking. Now she's not stupid she's really smart and she knows some appliances but either hasn't used it or she genuinely is seeing for the first time. It's a baking scene she wants to bake a cake and she's describing how the mixer looks.

Yes it sounds very very formal but I'm leaning into the "I'm from the past so I speak every level of formal and informal". It's a long story but she was there when language was formulated literally.
