Reading music - question

Hi all, I play piano but I am very new to guitar and learning on a 6 string lap steel with C6 tuning. Right now, I'm just trying to familiarize myself with the fret board and reading tabs.

I just want to clarify something about playing notes - fret position never changes, but the strings you pluck change depending on how your guitar is tuned? (i.e. mine is C6 so the C note is strings 2 and 6, and on the fret board open C is 0, and one octave up is 12 on the fret board). Is that right? Or would the fretting change when tuned in a different key?

I hope that all makes sense. It's a whole new language for me.

PT position

Hi all, I work FT during the week and just applied for a PT position at Whole Foods to make additional income in preparation for changes to my student loans. I'm wondering if it's realistic to assume I'd be able to work consistently on Saturdays and Sundays, only? For more context, I'm in the LA-area if that helps. Thank you!

Please interpret my brain images. 36 yo F with anorexia.

36 yo F with history of anorexia. I participated in a study and they were unable to interpret the MRIs for me. Can someone help me understand if this looks ok, considering my age? Thank you.

California - Subsequent AMFT requirement

Hi all,

Do California AMFTs need to retake the Law & Ethics Exam to qualify for a subsequent AMFT registration number, if already passed?

I'm planning to submit my licensure application within the next month, but I'm concerned that it may not be processed before I reach the six-year registration limit. As a precaution, I'm trying to understand whether I would need to retake the Law & Ethics Exam if I end up applying for a subsequent AMFT registration number.

I've reviewed the BBS website, but I'm still unclear on the requirements. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

New and looking for advice after labs

Hi all,

I got my TSH, T3 and free T4 tested today after my acupuncturist recommended labs for suspected hypothyroidism. I had originally started seeing him to address fatigue, hair loss, depression, and dry skin, assuming that my symptoms were stress-related. I got my results back today and my T3 is 45 ng/dL, free T4 is 0.8 ng/dL, and TSH is 1.33 mcIU/mL. From what I've read, I'm assuming I have hypothyroidism.

I'm waiting to hear back from my PCP to discuss the results and recommendations for treatment, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do with my diet to better manage symptoms.

I think it's worth noting I have a history of anorexia and continue to struggle with restrictive eating and low weight. I eat a lot of cruciferous vegetables, and have read that is contraindicated for treating hypothyroidism. I'd like to get ahead of this and willing to change things in my diet. Hopefully if this gets treated, the depression will start to remit some.

Thank you.

Help needed - responding to aggression

Hi all — how do you respond to new clients who present with an aggressive or demanding tone, use deflection or confusion to avoid accountability (often without insight into these patterns), and are not receptive to emotional validation, especially in the early stages of rapport-building? How do you balance holding space for their self-expression while also maintaining clear, realistic boundaries within the therapeutic relationship?
