Me personally -

1. Make streaming the show more accessible. People are lazy, and younger people just do not remember that radio exists - you gotta go where the action is, and get on more platforms that people are already using.
2. Make segments of the show not live - partially so they can get cleaned up in post, but also so you can -
3. Bring in more hosts, especially guest hosts! I think there are a lot of people who love to host a segment, and would be great at it (like Scott &/or Forrest from Astonishing Legends) - but they’re busy, they can’t stay up to 4am, etc - but they could squeeze in a couple of hours, once or twice a month, if they could fit it into their schedules. Ditto for some older folks, they might be thrilled to help out, but given their ages, they might not be capable of giving a good performance at midnight - so let ‘em work with their own schedules. This would probably result in a wider pool of guests to choose from, too.
4. Reinstate Art‘s Rules - limit commercialism, limit callers, limit guests, limit topics. There can be some wiggle-room, but keep some reins on these things. Make sure we aren’t hearing the same people & things over & over.
5. Maybe don’t have a main host? I feel like nearly 40 years of C2C have shown that having a main host is… dicey. And not really necessary. If someone or someone(s) are on the ball & rising to the top & getting on air more, that’s perfectly fine - but I feel like it can just be “Coast-To-Coast”, no need for the “With So & So”.
6. Limit politics/maintain political neutrality. This one is always tough, but very worth fighting for - we just wanna hear about ghosts & bigfoots & mysteries & shit, not fucking politics. They will come up occasionally, I don’t think it’s fair to completely bury our heads in the sand - but put some reins on that shit, stick to proven facts & figures, maintain neutrality. Have a segment that’s more politically-charged? Make it a not-live one, edit it with a fine-tooth comb for fairness, and don’t bother with callers.
7. Speaking of callers - how about reading out more texts/emails? Everyone uses cellphones these days, and they all sound like shit - let the hosts, who have good microphones, read ’em out. Hell, maybe get some trainee voice-actors to read them out. That’s also a good way to filter & distill people’s ramblings.
8. If you’re struggling to come up with a few more hours to fill out the week - don’t half-ass it, just do some good reruns. There’s nearly 40 years to pull from, give us a little cream of the crop sometimes. Quality over quantity.
9. Shill for real things & fair transactions - no snake oil, gambling, or bullshit services. You want (x)? The fine folks at (y) sell it! You give them money, they send you (x), guaranteed!
