Was solving the 2017 paper using some techniques of pyq analysis-few went right and few went wrong!

So I was solving the 2017 GS paper 1. I focused more on how to tackle the schemes and organization's wale questions - like how to read between the lines and see any discrepancy.

For question 23 - Option 4 felt bit overexplained. I mean why only poultry egg? And not desi chickens egg? It left me with 2 options both of which had 1,2 common. Option 3 felt right as well, and turns out it was wrong!

For question 55 - the amount of 4 lac crore felt huge as a corpus for any initiative. Marked it wrong and selected only 1 correct. Turns out it was wrong as well.

For 63 - Option 2 felt bit discriminatory. Why only uneducated jobless youth and not educated but jobless youth as well? Marked it wrong, selected only 1 correct. Turns out 1 was wrong as well.

I wanted to know how to improve this skill. As in I'm not taking any uneducated guess as such, but still the guess is leaving me wrong at times. How would you guys have attempted these questions? I have marked my thought process next to them as well.

Got a chance to revise Chola empire on birthday 🎂 🥳

Ever since childhood, birthday for me meant not touching books. It was just a fun day, you don't have to worry about anything, let alone studies. Lately, birthdays don't feel the same anymore. Specially them coming right before prelims multiplies the guilt of fun manifold 🥲.

Phir bhi, now that one has decided to give a try at something, why not give it properly 😉. Keep studying everyone 😊. Party 24 ko hogi 🙂‍↕️

I mean 50 cm is less than 70 cm; but ncert says less than 50 cm! What would you've marked in this question?

So, I've allotted 2 days for my environment revision. Have done this before, along with pyqs. However, there is this deep seated fear in my mind for this subject, don't know why! It is as if I won't be getting any return no matter how hard I work on it.

People who are good at this subject, what topics should I aim for in my 2 days? Things which have better ROI in this subject! Attached is the list I prepared for myself. Add whatever you feel will help

For Q64, UPSC has given key as "1 and 3 only". Shouldn't 2 also be correct?

Neem has anti-microbial properties, so can be used in detergents. Also, biofuels can me made from neem seeds (as per internet sources).

Should I just mug up the upsc key and move on!?

Gave pyq paper of 2013 as mock today. Attempted 97 questions, ended up with 80 correct and 17 incorrect. I know these metrics don't matter as all serious candidates are expected to have gone through pyq atleast once by now.

I however have few 🙋‍♂️ doubts -

a) Is it normal to make mistakes in pyq paper after going through them before? The questions I marked wrong have few which I've already solved correctly in my workbook before.

b) How do you analyse the paper? Do I need to just check the mistakes, see the right answer, find logic and move on? Or is something else needed too?

c) I'll posting few questions I've marked wrong today. Please tell how you would go to make sure such mistakes happen less from now on!

Would be grateful for the inputs 🫠

I have started geography revision today. Tried making my own active recall sheet for topics I forget or confuse between.

Wanted to practice as many questions as possible for the subject! If there is a source with questions (apart from pyq), which has helped you in getting good hold on the subject?!

Yahi raatein antim, yahi raatein bhari 🫠

Stick to the notes that you've made and just go all in!

Also, if I want to practice some mcqs on places in news, what are the possible sources?!
