Audi Q4 e-tron AC charging error, but DC charging works fine
Hi everyone,
I have a 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron 35 Sportback and I’m having a problem with AC charging at home.
The car charges normally on DC fast chargers. DC charging works fine.
The issue only happens when charging on AC, especially at home with my Tesla Wall Connector.
The wallbox is installed on a three-phase supply, but my Q4 e-tron 35 seems to only charge on single-phase AC. Sometimes when I plug it in, it first shows around 3 hours remaining, but then this warning appears and the charging time changes to around 11 hours.
The dashboard warning says:
“Charging system fault. AC charging only possible with restrictions. Please go to the workshop.”
At times it only charges at around 2.3 kW, even after changing the wallbox current settings.
Since DC charging works normally, does this point more to:
- a faulty AC onboard charger in the car?
- a Tesla Wall Connector configuration issue?
- a wiring / phase / neutral / earth problem?
- the car limiting AC charging because of an AC fault?
Has anyone had this issue on an Audi Q4 e-tron?
Thanks for any help.
