What happens when you need to replace your heat pump and have already used the grant?
Hi, just wondering what the situation is here. From what I’ve read, the grant can only be used once. So in 15 years time when you need to replace your heat pump are you going to be hit with a bill of €15,000 or so? Heat pumps started to be installed in new homes from about 2015 onwards, so in 2030 are we going to start seeing loads of people needing to replace their heat pumps, getting a massive bill to do so, and instead deciding it’s not worth it, taking out their heat pump and putting in a gas boiler instead? Surely the government will need to introduce another grant for replacing heat pumps? Or is it possible to just replace individual parts on a heat pump and keep it going for a long time without a full replacement?
