Ligament tears between my ribs or possible intercostal muscle tears?
Hi. I have eds, fibromyalgia and costochonrtitis.I had severe pain between my ribs on my left side, and round to the back under my shoulder blade in march. I thought it was my costochondritis at first. But after a while,it was not healing, I spoke to my drs surgery. It took going through one dr to find one who would refer me for an ultrasound after she examined me. I had to go to the out of hours dr at a and e the day after, as the pain was unbearable. The hospital did an xray and and mri, and told me that the xray showed nothing, and they were only looking for 'big stuff', the nurses words, on my mri, as my blood test they did just before it showed a possible pulmonary embolism. It turned out I didn't have one, so they sent me home. I felt upset as i'd been in pain for ten weeks before the scans, that I had no answer to what was causing the pain. I thought it might have been a tear in an intercostal muscle. I went back to my drs who referred me for an ultrasound scan at a different hospital, which I am waiting for the results for. That pain is now a lot better, but since last friday, I have had severe pain a few inches below my right shoulder blade. I am now thinking that maybe it is a ligament injury, and maybe was before. I live alone and don't feel confident to drive right now, as after resting since last friday, it is no better. My adovate said they can find inflammation of the tendons and ligaments in scans, so maybe to ring my drs or nhs 111. I am thinking of ringing them tomorrow. I am waking up in the morning with a lot of pain all down my left side, as I cannot lie on my right, and a lot of pain on my right side at the back, a few inches below my shoulder blade. I have a very small bedroom and have to get in and out of my bed at the bottom. I am back on the council list trying to move.Has anyone else had intercostal muscle tears or ligament problems in their rib cage? If so, how did you treat it. I an struggling to sit back on my sofa as it hurts so much.
