Spent the afternoon making this Bond a bit more interesting. Did a full ferric chloride acid etch on all parts except the file (with all contact points covered of course), followed by a stonewash. It's far less slippery, looks pretty damn good, and rust will have a hell of a time getting started with the patina protecting it. Also, for some reason, it's giving me much stronger PST vibes than when it was unmodded lol. The brain's a funny thing I guess. What do you guys think of the mod? I'm certainly thinking it's a way cooler way to protect from rust than the black oxide.

Finally had some time to get back in the shop and mod some more Opinels!

Finally, the budget bundle of knives I never got around to modding. Assume cut and carried for all. The Ameight Klista is a nice front flipper in 14c28n, second owner. CJRB Feldspar is a budget staple in D2, second owner. The CJRB Ria is in 14c28n, I ground the blade to a clip point but never got around to doing anything else, second owner as well. The Flissa FL2400 is a nice budget technically integral in 8Cr13MoV, really thin and nice deep carry, first owner. The Kizer Begleiter is the classic version on washers and VG10, quite tanky, like a stabbier RAT 1, second owner. https://imgur.com/a/oE8hFhk Asking $100 for the lot.

Stole a saw from a broken Blast I got for cheap and cut it down to fit in place of the file. Ground said file down and replaced the large flathead with it. Then replaced the lanyard with a micro bit driver.

Makes for a great daily driver and impromptu garden tool. Definitely feels like a worthy successor to the PST (and in my case, a great compromise from the clip-less Rebar).

Phenomenal little slip joint for $20. 8Cr13MoV is nothing to complain about at this price, and the thinness, oh my! Just under a quarter of an inch, it disappears no matter what pants you’re wearing. Finally a good option with a pocket clip stock that I can recommend when people ask for a knife under $20. One hand (slow roll) opening works surprisingly well for a slipjoint too.
