“Serious upgrade” for Atlanta airport parking nears debut

South Red Deck project to include thousands of parking spaces designed for walkability to terminal.

Come Monday, the Atlanta airport’s years-long, ongoing expansion efforts will include thousands of new parking spaces designed to be walkable to a main domestic terminal.

According to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport officials, the new South Red Deck is scheduled to open June 1 near the South Terminal, which is primarily used as a hub for Delta Air Lines domestic flights. The project topped out in August.

The new deck—described as a “serious upgrade” in a recent announcement—includes more than 7,000 additional parking spaces for the world’s busiest airport.
