Salomon XT-6 Non-GTX for Winter in Toronto/Montreal
I know this shoe has been discussed to death but I genuinely haven't found an answer to this question so here we are.
I'm starting to get a taste for gorp fashion (I'm late, I know) and I'm looking at XT-6s as I need a casual shoe at the moment. I was wondering if anyone here has experience wearing non-GTX XT-6 in Canadian/northern American cities (Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Minneapolis, Detroit etc) during the winter.
From what I've gathered so far, the GTX thrives in the cold, wet conditions I'll be wearing them in, but I don't really love any of the colour ways, whereas I loooooove the Black Coffee / Burro / Bitter Chocolate colourway:
I've heard that these can get wet quite easily but I was playing with the idea of spraying them with a water resistant spray to help. They also apparently dry quickly which is critical in the cold.
For the most part, I'd be wearing these around town, going to restaurants, bars, groceries etc so I won't be stepping in more than a few inches of snow when the sidewalks haven't been cleared yet.
So, did anyone here wear these in past winters? How was it? Is it worth it to get the GTX or should I look for another shoe altogether? I was scoping out some nordas which look pretty sick. What do you guys think?
