How hard is it to quit?

I think I need some hand holding here… I’m pretty dependent on sugar in a way that makes me feel like my day isn’t “done” without it. Sometimes mid day I feel like I “deserve” it.

I quit drinking 7 months ago, just because I felt like it wasn’t adding to my life but was adding to my waist. I don’t really miss it. I had a glass of wine on my birthday 2 weeks ago and thought … meh. I want to feel that way about sugar!!!!!!!

Who can lend some advice for how to cut sugar out of my life?

Should I try to do it gradually, or cold turkey?

Do I need to avoid it in everything to be able to let it go? I see people saying pasta sauces or dressings… should I be that strict?

Is Diet Coke/soda a gateway drug??

HELP!
