New to PA (Clarion County)
Recently moved to Clarion County from Utah.
NRA member and newly PA GOA member here.
Recently finished getting my vehicle registered and inspected, my PA driver's license, and obtaining my LTCF. (Now I need to get my Utah CFP converted to an out-of-state permit because technically my address is no longer correct as I'm a PA resident now.)
A few questions (don't feel obligated to answer all of them. I do realize this is a lot...):
- Where can I do target practice? I believe in doing regular target practice if you're going to concealed carry and not just buy a gun and put it in your nightstand and never touch it. But Google seems to say that the closest indoor range is in Pittsburgh and that can't be right.
- How do gun clubs work here? From reading this sub, it seems like you have to be invited to join. If that's the case, I'm fudged because I'm a bit shy socially. I also don't think it's fair to ask a stranger to vouch for me if they don't know me personally.
- Any reputable LGS to recommend? If I can support a local business and not a chain, I'd prefer that. Any places in the area I should avoid?
- I haven't seen much about Clarion County in this sub, but does anyone know any good teachers or classes in this area? I'd like to purchase my first shotgun, but would really like a course or some guidance with shotguns and rifles since I only know handguns. I also like to take ccw safety classes once a year as a refresher.
- (Speaking of shotguns, I'm looking to buy either a Mossberg 500 series or a Remington 870 and wanted to know which one is better for noobs.)
- Any firearms events/shows/competitions in the area? I'd like to meet other hobbyists to meet people and learn. It will be a struggle because I am not the best at small talk, but I think with certain crowds (2A and heavy metal specificall) I do a bit better. You never know!
And while I have your attention, I'm in the market for a new ccw belt because I lost some weight since I got mine (Vedder velcro belt) a couple years ago and someone told me it's not good have my belt so loose now.
Any recs on a good belt? I'd prefer a ratcheting belt instead of the velcro. Preferably not too expensive because I work in a lumber yard right now (trying to transition into construction from office/corporate/sales jobs).
My EDC is currently a Sig P365, but because of their terrible PR last year, I don't feel "right" carrying a sig anymore and would like opinions on the SA Hellcat.
Lastly, I do plan to vote only for pro 2A candidates and appreciate the posts about bills being passed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
