Did a TNR on a male yesterday. Why did the vet say I had to wait 10-14 days to release?!
This is my first TNR. I told the vet I found that he was feral, and they were willing to neuter him. As we were leaving, they said I shouldn't release him until 10 days post op because they leave the incision open for males.
I currently have him in a dog crate on my porch. We have had him home for less than 24 hours and as you would guess, he is acting stir crazy. I hate to go against a vets advice, but it contradicts what I have seen from most TNR organizations. Would an open incision really call for that long of a hold when it is the norm for males?
